This is my phrase right now, “I am at Max Capacity”.
Shakira could you…
Right now I am at ‘Max Capacity’.
I am working for a few different companies. I have a new role which I am trying to ace, but I still have a long way to go. I often finish work late, and then thank my past self that I already prepped dinner. When I am not working I’m buying furniture for our new place, not accessories, legit furniture… like cupboards and storage. Plants need repotting, things needs cleaning and measuring… it’s a labour of love.. but it’s still labour. And then to make sure I don’t loose the plot… I need me some girl time - aka medicine for the soul.
So for me right now… I don’t have much energy to listen to a conversation that I feel like we already had last week.
I don’t have energy for phone calls… unless you’re one of a handful of people who I can be ‘off’ with.
And a lot of the time lately, I just wanna stay home and I get excited about the idea of hot chocolate and an early night.
And I am learning right now…
That’s actually OK.
I have a VERY independent husband who goes to God to meet his needs not me *phew*.
I have no co-dependant friends, so me replying to a message 48 hours late hasn’t seemed to rock any boats.
I have had a few people recently ask to catch up, and I was so tempted to say.
“Yes let’s do that in May!”
But then I thought… how about I wait and not put pressure on Future Shakira by booking in calls 2 weeks ahead only to get upset at my previous zeal when the time comes.
For me protecting Future Shakira, means pausing before saying yes to plans and ideas. Planning half of us much as I would naturally, to leave room for extra rest and spontanaiety. It also means batch cooking on the weekend so dinner is ready when I finish work and it means having no whatsapp notifications, and NEVER having my phone on loud #textmedontcall.
To some this may seem anti-social maybe even a little extreme. But this is my way of protecting Future Shakira.
How often do you think of your future self?
Weekly? Monthly? Rarely at all?
Whether we choose to think about it or not, what we are reading today, how we are spending our time, what we focus on and what we eat, will have an effect on our future selves.
With that in mind…
What’s one thing you’d want to change today?
